Hello and welcome to the first edition of After the Final Rose. To get started I wanted to make sure you were all caught up with the Bachelor/Bachelorette world or at least had the basics down. So welcome to The Tangled Web of Love: one easy recap.
Of the 15 Bachelor seasons, 1 resulted in a marriage (Jason Mesnick and Molly Rycroft). This was only after Jason proposed to a different girl and publicly broke up with her on television months later. Then promptly after that he asked Molly for a shot at love. Surprisingly, she agreed and after much media scrutiny and backlash they had a beautiful wedding and are happily living in Seattle with Jason’s son Ty.
Bachelor Breakups: Well if you couldn’t tell already there have been many breakups, but none more public than Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi’s breakup. They agreed to discuss it in an interview on ABC and by ‘discuss’ I mean cry, yell, argue and interrupt each other to see who could control the spotlight the longest. Vienna definitely stole the show by cutting the interview short with her overdramatic exit in tears. My personal opinion – they each love the limelight more than any other person in the world.
Of the 7 Bachelorette seasons, 1 resulted in a marriage and two resulted in engagements. Trista Rehn, the season’s first bachelorette, chose Ryan Sutter and they now have two kids and are living in Colorado. Ali Fedotowsky chose ex-baseball player Roberto Martinezand they now live in my home town of San Diego.
Most recently on this last season of The Bachelorette, Ashley Hebert and JP Rosenbaum became engaged and Ashley moved to live with JP in New York City.
So in sum, 3 out of the 7 (43%) seasons of The Bachelorette have resulted in relationships, compared with 1 out of 15 (6%) seasons of The Bachelor…So far the ladies seem to be choosing a bit more wisely than the men but I won’t speculate on why that may be…
The Bachelor Pad we may cover later. That’s its own set of issues…
Also, Wikipedia has a handy-dandy chart outlining the 15 seasons in case you haven’t gotten your fill here.
Until next time my Bachelor Fans (BFs).
